Biography

Robert (Lynn) Asprin was born in 1946 and spent much of his life in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He began writing in the 70s and often referred to Gordon Dickson as his mentor. While he wrote some early standalone novels, Bob is best known for his series fantasy. These include the Myth Adventures of Aahz and Skeeve, the Phule's Company novels, and the Time Scout novels written with Linda Evans. Late in his career, he also wrote two non-humorous fantasy novels in the Wartorn series with Eric Del Carlo and a mystery novel, No Quarter, with Eric Del Carlo and Teresa Patterson. Bob also co-edited the groundbreaking Thieves' World anthology series with Lynn Abbey.

Asprin's other collaborations included License Invoked (set in the French Quarter of New Orleans) and more recently several new Myth Adventures novels written with Jody Lynn Nye. Bob's final solo project was a contemporary fantasy series called Dragons, again featuring New Orleans. Dragons Wild was published in 2007, and Dragons Luck in 2009. Jody Lynn Nye has continued both series.

Bob Asprin was a well known figure in fandom and at SF conventions. He was instrumental in the creation of both the Dorsai Irregulars and the SCA's Dark Horde. He passed away suddenly and peacefully on May 22, 2008 at home in New Orleans. He is survived by his daughter and son, his mother and his sister.
