Biography
Ursula Vernon also writes under the pen name of T. Kingfisher
Ursula Vernon is a freelance writer, artist and illustrator from North Carolina. She is best known for the Hugo Award-winning webcomic Digger and her children's books.
Vernon also writes under the vaguely absurd pen-name of T. Kingfisher, which she uses when writing things for grown-ups. Her work includes multiple fairy-tale retellings and odd little stories about anthropomorphic animals, elves, and goblins. She has been nominated for the World Fantasy and the Eisner, and has won the Hugo, Nebula, WSFA, Sequoyah, Coyotl and Ursa Major awards, as well as a half-dozen Junior Library Guild selections.
Vernon is also the creator of the The Biting Pear of Salamanca, a digital work of art which became an internet meme in the form of the LOL WUT pear. When she is not writing, she is probably out in the garden, trying to make eye contact with butterflies.
