Biography
Sharon Lee is best-known as a co-author of the Liaden Universe, which includes more than 30 novels and at least as many related shorter stories. Her short fiction and essays, written both jointly and singly, have appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines, including Catfantastic, Such a Pretty Face, Murder and Magic, Absolute Magnitude, 3SF, and several incarnations of Amazing.
From 1997-2003 Sharon served three years as the Executive Director of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), then two as Vice-President, and two more as President of that organization.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she and her husband and frequent collaborator Steve Miller met several times before taking the hint and formalizing the team in 1979. They are jointly the recipients of the 2012 Edward E. Smith Memorial Award for Imaginative Fiction (aka the Skylark Award), presented by the New England Science Fiction Association, and of the 2005 Golden DuckHal Clement Young Adult Award.
They removed to central Maine with cats, books, and music in 1988. Sharon's interests include music, pine cone collecting, and seashores.
