Biography
Talie Helene is a musician and writer, from Melbourne, Australia. She is currently preparing her AMusA in Classical Singing, is ambling through an Advanced Diploma in Music Performance (Jazz and Contemporary), and climbing the mountain that is classical Double Bass. She has a Cert IV in Music Industry (Technical Production), and a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing; her interdisciplinary interests lean strongly towards audio arts and film score composition. As a journalist, she has been on staff at the UK's bible of extreme music, Zero Tolerance magazine, for five years; her column Waltzing Macabre was a regular in Black: Australian Dark Culture magazine.
Talie has had poetry published in journals including Midnight Echo, Voiceworks, Avant, and Inkshed, and About Poetry, and a co-authored short story (with Martin Livings) in More Scary Kisses. She has appeared on panels at Aussiecon 4, Dirty Words (a writers' flash festival), and Continuum 5 - Galaxies By Gaslight, and performed at the St Kilda Music and Poetry Festival. Talie is a member of the SuperNOVA writers' group, and is working on her first novel.
Talie is Horror Editor for the anthology series The Year's Best Australian Fantasy and Horror forTiconderoga Publications), and was News Editor for the Australian Horror Writers' Association for four years (2006-2010), for which she received a Ditmar nomination.
