Gaiman - The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Jordan - The Wheel of Time
Sanderson - Steelheart
Stross - Neptune's Brood

Location: UK | I have never nominated before - I just don't read enough brand new SF/F to make it worth it - and we ended up with an extremely disappointing shortlist in my opinion. This year I am considering just nominating stuff I want to read, instead of the two 2013 books I have read.
Anyway, other books I hope to have a look at before the deadline:
Wolfhound Century - Peter Higgins
Raising Steam - Terry Pratchett
On the Steel Breeze - Al Reynolds (I'm going to have to read Blue Remembered Earth first)
Republic of Thieves - Scott Lynch
...and of course there is Ancillary Justice, which is one of the two I have read.
I also need to decide very soon whether I want to go to the con. I've never been con-goer, and I don't totally understand what they're about, but Worldcon doesn't come to the UK all that often. |

Location: Virginia | Read Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker, and it was excellent.
Tried Ancillary Justice, but couldn't get that far. I started it over after 2 hours into the audiobook and got a little bit farther, but got bogged down by an enormous infodump section that kept losing me. Maybe it is better as a book, where you can move at your own pace, or back up and clarify sections thick with info. |

Location: Cheshire, England | Of the four you've listed I've read Steelheart and that is really good YA. But then I think most of Sanderson's work is good. Otherwise, I'd go for Charles Stross - not found a bad one of his yet either! |
