Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | I just added 9 more podcasts to the site. Check 'em out. Do you know of any good podcasts that cover SF/F books and literature?

Member Posts: 9 Location: Louisville, Ky | Writing Excuses is an enjoyable podcast done by 3 writers, one of them Brandon Sanderson who was tapped to finish up Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time Saga. While they talk about many different aspects of the writing process (dialogue, plot structure, submission to editors, etc.) they do often talk about it from a sci-fi or fantasy writer's perspective, referencing various works from both genres. They also have genre-specific podcasts like sci-fi subgenres or creating your own magic system. Each one is 15 minutes long, which makes it a convenient listen. http://www.writingexcuses.com/

Nice to find one that's short!

Member Posts: 26 | I'm really enjoying the podcasts of old SF radio shows. I've loved X Minus One and Dimension X from way back, but many of the others are new to me.

Uber User Posts: 263 Location: Gunnison, Colorado | Here's a new podcast with Karen Burnham and Karen Lord (author of Redemption in Indigo) called "SF: Crossing the Gulf." Smart discussion of specific books alternating between hard SF and Caribbean SF. http://www.sfsignal.com/archives/category/columns/sf-crossing-the-g... Also, I just started listening to The Gods of Mars from the Fantastic Worlds of Burroughs. Thanks for the recommend on that one. The narration is just "over the top" enough to suit the material...

Member Posts: 36 Location: CA | I checked out of curiosity and noticed that you don't have Night Vale listed. Is that an omission of non-identification or simple misclassification as a podcast? Cheers, O.

Alan Alan, thanks for brining up this old thread that I had forgotten about! Yes, you can put your suggestions here. I need to catch up on the old requests above and if yours fits I'll get it added to the list too. I usually don't wait years to reply to a request so don't despair of an equally long wait on yours

Member Posts: 43 Location: Chicago, IL | I'd like to recommend This is Horror and Ladies of the Fright. They're both great podcasts that cover modern horror publishing. This is Horror does excellent author interviews with the who's who of horror writing. Ladies of the Fright also does author interviews, Stoker panel coverage, and movie reviews. - https://www.thisishorror.co.uk/podcasts/ - https://www.ladiesofthefright.com/podcast For fiction podcasts, I recommend adding The Magnus Archives, which just concluded. It's a horror anthology podcast with an interesting meta narrative. I have also heard good things about Old Gods of Appalachia, but have not had the chance to listen to it yet. - https://rustyquill.com/the-magnus-archives/ - https://www.oldgodsofappalachia.com/

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | Gordon Kent - 2024-06-21 7:06 AM Where would be appropriate to link in some booktubers? Thinking particularly of Outlaw Bookseller, Bookpilled, Media Death Cult, SciFi Odyssey and Vintage SF. Welcome to WWEnd, Gordon! AND thanks for the great idea! We will be adding a Genre Book Tubers page to our resources section to give all these great shows the attention they deserve. Let's start a list here for anyone to add to while I prep the new page. Any BT with a focus on SF, Fantasy or Horror books is eligible. Links to these shows would be very helpful!
