Uber User Posts: 857 Location: The Wilds of Washington | Jain - 2015-12-08 2:46 PM Could you add the following: A Hero at the End of the World - Erin Claiborne An Arrow's Flight - Mark Merlis The Perilous Gard - Elizabeth Marie Pope Black Widow: Forever Red - Margaret Stohl Thanks! Claiborne, Merlis, and Pope are all in. I, unfortunately, have an allergic reaction to Marvel books, so someone else will have to deal with the Stohl book. Sorry!! Does that mean that we can't have the novels or short story collections either? For those of you who havent heard the hard and fast rules when it comes to comics and manga, here is my understanding. (If Im off, the other uber uses will let us all know.) We have absolutely no problem putting in a graphic novel if its been nominated for something. If its on one of the list or awards we track, if thats the case, of course it goes in. After all, thats where we started. But with everything else, we have a kind of wait and see, maybe later, attitude. You do realize that if we open the door to everything in the world of comics, then that might easily be thousands of books. I dont think anyone around here is quiet ready for that. Not yet anyway. The exceptions to this general rule are on an individual case-by-case basis. The comic adaptation of Nivens Ringworld, sounds like something which should be in, but nobody has asked for it and I havent gotten to it yet. The comic adaption of Mrs. Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, I, for one, wouldnt object. Vol. 11 of the Fantastic Four omnibus series, not so much. Maybe later. Maybe never. So, that means any actual books (non graphic novel material) which feature characters which we would most likely associate with comic books, yeah, they're fine since they're books. You just have to ask, politely as always. I for one have been adding lots of light novels from Japan. Many of those book series have parallel manga series as well. The novels are in, the manga isnt. Those seem to be the guidelines at the moment. They'll undoubtedly change in the future. Edited by gallyangel 2015-12-23 4:18 AM

Veteran Posts: 144 Location: Alief, TX | I appreciate being given the policy, and I'm not arguing that (though I can find at least two instances of graphic novel series in the system with no award nominations). But my original request also included about a dozen actual books about Mignola's characters, written by various authors, many of whom are already in the database. So then I was asking if we can still get those books. I notice that two have been put in, and I appreciate that too.

Member Posts: 14 | I've been pretty into anthologies lately. Could we get: Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural ed. Herbert Wise Black Water ed. Alberto Manguel Black Water 2 Magic Realist Fiction ed. David Young & Keith Hollaman Also, I've been reading The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, which I would like added here if people find it appropriate. A lot of critics describe it as magical realism, and there are sci-fi and fantasy references on almost every page.

Locke & Key is a Mythopoeic nominee; Digger is a Mythopoeic nominee and is on the Award-Winning Books by Women Authors list; Ôoku: The Inner Chambers and Y: The Last Man are Tiptree nominees. The Tiptree Award is something we've been working on for months, because it contains a lot of different types of works other than novels including short fiction, graphic novels, and even a music CD album. The Admins will be adding it to the site's Awards list shortly after the new year.

I think this might be at least our second Pulitzer prize winner in the DB. Simpson's style woo-who.
