Uber User Posts: 1057 | I'd hoped to make a good dent in this list after Worldcon, but I managed to fall and break my dominant wrist on Sunday, so it will be a bit before I can get back to entering books. (sorry for the delays!)

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | Administrator - 2018-08-21 9:15 PM So obviously we're pretty far behind on these requests. Thanks for your continued patience everyone. Here is the list as far as I can make it out from the last several pages of requests. They are in the reverse order of how they came in. A few of the requests were removed like Talbot Mundy and Doris Lessing for non-genre books.
We'll take them off this list as we get to them. If ya'll could hold off on new requests until we get this list whittled down that would be very helpful. I have quoted myself to bring this to the top of the page so everyone will see it.

(sorry for the delays!) Yeouch! So sorry to hear that! I hope it knits fast. Don't sweat the list, there are plenty of other folks around to take care of it. Just get yourself fit again.

Uber User Posts: 1465 Location: The Netherlands | These five are in: Spaceship Medic by Harry Harrison The Flowers of Vashnoi by Lois McMaster Bujold Apocalypse Nyx by Kameron Hurley Latchkey by Nicole Kornher-Stace H(A)PPY by Nicola Barker (Heinemann) Early Riser by Jasper Fforde can be taken off the list. It has been on forthcoming books lists for well over a year and has been postponed several times. Right now I see a publication date in February 2019 but I have no idea if it will actually appear then. This one is wait and see. Everything Under by Daisy Johnson was added yesterday but not taken off the list.

Regular Posts: 51 | Thanks very much for the work being done on this! Early Riser was published in the UK at the start of this month by Hodder and Staughton so should be eligible for entry?

Member Posts: 31 Location: Dublin, OH | Thanks to the Uber Users for all of the hard work in getting these books input! Just let us know when its safe to start requesting again (I'm keeping a list - but its small right now!) ;-) Just a quick question though - how legit are short stories to input? I know that there are quite a few in the database, but I don't want to inundate you with requests for short stories. For instance, this spring, my son had to read a couple of short stories for English that are included in Bradbury's Martian Chronicles. Since I read them with him, I would like to include them in my list for this year, but they don't seem to be in the DB. Should I request their addition?

Since I read them with him, I would like to include them in my list for this year, but they don't seem to be in the DB. Should I request their addition? Our Ubers always come through with the books! The list is getting whittled down pretty fast at the moment so it won't be long before we're caught up and can start taking new requests again. Just keep an eye on the list up above to know when to start hitting us with new ones. As far as the short fiction goes most of what's going into the site is award nominated stuff for various awards. The Ubers are laying the ground work for the addition of new short categories to be added to our awards coverage with Val leading the charge. Soon we'll have listings for Hugo Short Story, Nebula Novella, The Sturgeon Award, etc. etc. etc. Those will debut with the new WWEnd 3.0 site which has a much better display factor for short fiction than what we currently have. Having said that, if there is something you want to be in the DB as a separate entry so you can submit a review or tag it for a reading challenge etc. you can go ahead and request it and we'll put it in.

Uber User Posts: 1057 | After discussion among the Uber Users and the Admin, this will be the current policy on adding individual short fiction stories: We will add short fiction meeting at least one of the following criteria: The reason for setting these guidelines is that there is currently a project in progress to add all of the short fiction works which fall under 2), which is a significant amount of work in itself. We apologize if this means not adding random short fiction works which you would like to track, but we know you will understand that with the ongoing day-to-day addition of new novels and short fiction works as they are named finalists, as well as the Year's Best project, opening requests to short fiction of any kind would significantly increase the workload to the point where it would become overwhelming. Once the Year's Best project is completed, and the WWEnd 3.0 website upgrade has been rolled out, this policy may be revisited. Thanks for your understanding.
