Uber User Posts: 1465 Location: The Netherlands | bleebs - 2015-04-29 4:03 PM Today I bought Alastair Reynolds' Poseidon's Children #3: "Poseidon's Wake" in my local bookshop. It's just out! Could you add it? Thanks! It is in. Whoever came up with that cover should be fired. And changing the style for the third book in a series too...

Regular Posts: 99 Location: Belgium | I hear you. I bought the second book with the new art, while I had the original version of the first one (softcover though). that had been nagging me ever since, so today I bought the new version of the first book as well, and I'm going to give the old one away as a gift to a friend, just to have a matching series.

Regular Posts: 99 Location: Belgium | from Reynolds' blog: here is the book description as it should have appeared on the inside cover flap: Two hundred years after the fall of Mechanism, human society has achieved a kind of stability. There are colonies beneath the oceans, throughout the solar system, and beyond: on the worlds of extrasolar systems. Vast hemirelativistic ships connect these colonies, travelling at half the speed of light. Or rather they would, if the ominous presence of the alien Watchkeepers had not led to an enforced moratorium on interstellar travel. But when a seemingly impossible radio signal reaches the colony Crucible, everything changes: Send Ndege Its origin is unpopulated, unexplored space. No one could be there at least, not if they travelled using human technology so who could have sent it? How did they get there? And what use do they have for the disgraced scientist Ndege Akinya? Finding the answers will require one of the greatest expeditions humankind has ever launched, a journey further than ever attempted before, conducted under the implacable scrutiny of the Watchkeepers. But as a mission is prepared on Crucible, it turns out they werent the only ones to see the message or its potential . . .

Regular Posts: 92 | I've a few suggestions to add to the database as part of the Clear My Shelves challenge Extreme Paranoia: Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Shot by Ken Rolston - the publisher was West End Games who I believe are no longer trading. I've a review ready for the book. The Man In The Picture: A Ghost Story by Susan Hill is a novella but is available in dead tree form as a standalone product. The publisher is Profile Books and again I've a review available. Also missing is Hill's classic ghost story, The Woman In Black - the publisher is Vintage

I thought both the book and the movie of Women in Black were great. The two by Hill are in.

Uber User Posts: 613 Location: New Zealand | Thanks a lot. You're too quick for me. I was coming back to add another one, and found you'd done them already! Can you add some books by Guy Adams: A Few Words for the Dead (book 3 of the Toby Greene Series) The Breath of God, and The Armies of Doctor Moreau (books 1 & 2 in the Sherlock Holmes series). These two are paranormal mysteries with a bit of a steampunk/gaslamp flavour.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 306 | I have a general question: it appears that sometimes a novella is added to the database. What are the guidelines with requesting novellas to be added? I assume it'd be a ton of work to add many of them.

Uber User Posts: 613 Location: New Zealand | Hi I have been looking through the Fantasy Masterworks series and I notice you have missed one. Lord Darcy by Randall Garrett was released in this series back in March 2014. It is an omnibus containing all the short stories and novellas of Lord Darcy. Is it possible to get this one in?

Admin Posts: 4005 Location: Dallas, Texas | Yeah, I just added 3 new Fantasy Masterworks to the list yesterday and while I was at it I noticed we were missing the Lord Darcy and another one at least. I'll look around today and see if there are others as well. It's always a little confusing because they re-release books from the numbered series at the same times as the new ones come out. The new covers are nice and all but we only want the new volumes for the list. I also added 4 new books to the SF Masterworks list yesterday. I got the new books from a blog post over on SF Signal because the publisher prefers to let people discover them on their own it seems. If we happen to stumble upon the new volumes or somebody tells us about them we can update our list but they can't be bothered to promote the new volumes. I've asked them directly for updates or for information on where they publish that info so I could go get it and even volunteered our lists for them to use but they were not interested. Keeping everyone in the dark is part of their marketing plan.

Uber User Posts: 613 Location: New Zealand | Thanks everyone. I've tried to collect all the books in the Fantasy Masterwork series, and have run across the same issues in trying to find out when they will be released. It is very frustrating.
