Synopsis
Sidewise Award nominated short story. It originally appeared in Event Horizon, October 1998. It can also be found in the anthology The Year's Best Science Fiction: Sixteenth Annual Collection (1999), edited by Gardner Dozois. The story is included in the collections Heart of Whitenesse (2005) and Things Will Never Be the Same: Selected Short Fiction, 1980 - 2005 (2007).
