Synopsis
Dorey glanced over his shoulder at the swirling vortex. It wasn't so far away now, and it was visible big enough to engulf a man. What was it actually like inside, he wondered.
Something shivered along his spine. His percept whispered a feeling of fear. No, not exactly fear. More like cauthios uncertainty--a questioning of the unknown. The emotion wasn't his own. He knew he was sensing the reflextion of it from someone else.
H saw Ryik standing slightly away from the others, staring at the kink. I was his emotion, Dorey thought. It was--
Escape--
Ryik lunged.
Dorey leaped after him.
As he caught at Ryik's tabard, the boy's racing thoughts were of Joran. His patron would be very pleased if he managed to stop the prisoner's escape.
The kink jumped toward them, expanding as if to welcome them.
Together, they plunged into it.
