Synopsis
This novelette orginally appeared in Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, January 1987. It can also be found in the anthologies The Year's Best Science Fiction: Fifth Annual Collection (1988), edited by Gardner Dozois, The 1988 Annual World's Best SF, edited by Donald A. Wollheim and Arthur W.
