To my great surprise, I really enjoyed this. I say to my surprise because normally I prefer my science fiction to be diamond hard and this was anything but. Despite, or perhaps because of, that this was excellent. The world-building and characterisation were particularly fine. Yes, it was reminiscent of "Firefly" (Kizzy was a modified Kaylee, for example) and there was a distinct aftertaste of Nathan Lowell's "Solar Clipper" series (manifest in the character-driven nature of the story), but these both add to its charm.
Definitely in the top third of my science fiction favourites and worth checking out.
