I was prepared for this book to be juveline and smartarse, and annoying...and it made one of the three criteria, while also being a damn good read, technologically well founded, and crying out for sequels. It IS smartarse: it is full of more sly references to modern SF culture than you could thow a stick at, and that's just the names of the Bobs - and that's cool, beause that culture has had a profound effect on all of us, and it's good to see it recognised.

What I liked was that the book explored the logical consequences of making a digital copy of a technologically-engaged human, and the expecting it to make more - with all of the faults and off-the-bell-curve variations that could lead to. It's clever, it's well done, and I'm not gong to tell you any more.
