At first I expected this story to be a trite, Korean-flavored version of "The Little Engine that Could", and I wasn't particularly enthused about reading it. But I was pleasantly-surprised: not only was it less predictable than I expected, it was also much less saccharine.
This is a story of the need to achieve our heart's desire, balanced against the needs of other people in our lives. I thought that it was beautifully done and quite a strong story; it ended up in the top 3 on my Hugo ballot.
