I like the Outspoken Authors series from PM Press. Each volume focuses on an established writer, includes one of the writer's well-known works and one or more new pieces, and ends with a substantial but lighthearted interview with the author. As a way to 'meet' a writer and get a quick sense of their work, the series can't be beat.
This volume, which focuses on trans author Rachel Pollack, does all of that and more because Rachel has been a member of the trans community since before there was much of a community, and her interview provides interesting historical background on the connections between trans writers and the speculative fiction genre. The book is a finalist for one of the 2020 Lambda literary awards, and I can understand why: the writing is engaging throughout, and some passages are truly eye-opening.
