Yet another prequel to Every Heart a Doorway that would've been a stronger story if it weren't a prequel; if the ending hadn't been predetermined, it might've felt less forced and required fewer characters to act OOC in order to make it happen. That said, this may be my favorite novella in the series so far.
Too much of the action takes place off-screen, and there are too many threads left dangling at the end of the story, but I really liked most of the characters--especially the protagonist--as well as the Goblin Market worldbuilding, and the storyline is good overall even if it's missing too much of its connective tissue.
