My first impression of the book, based on the first few pages, was that it was gonna be a bit preachy, on the feminist side. I could not have been more wrong.
This is not a book about masculinity and femininity, although it has some very uncomfortable gender reversions. Of course, they might be uncomfortable only from my build-in male perspective, but I have to say that the explicit female-on-male rape scenes were disturbing.
This is a book about power (Yeah, the title is a major spoiler). About the use and the abuse of the power. And most significantly about the major reason why the powerful abuse the powerless, in the past, in the present, and most likely in the future as well.
Because they can.
