This book is a great continuation to first Praxis trilogy, which is one of better reads in classic space opera genre. Fast, interesting plot and likable characters. Simple and fun read, but in a good way. Writing on point and not to overreaching, especially if you compare it to Night's Dawn trilogy and/or Commonwealth saga by P.F. Hamilton. The Praxis series deals with multi species society trying to find it's way after it's masters are gone and is centred on humanity's point of view, but with a twist - so much time has passed that humans are part of that culture and there is no real revolution. From our point of view, we would call them traitors and collaborators. But humans being humans, thing are slowly starting to change. It's hard to transition from ultimate tyranny to open and free society. It will be interesting to see what will author write to resolve that, especially in light of some recent things he uses in his book (like 2008 financial crisis). Also, without saying to much about plot, I like how the book starts - showing some humans as ruthless bastards we are sometimes as a species.
