Fantasy - first 2/3 to 3/4 essentially reads as an SF novel with alternate timelines (mostly), although there is some discussion of religious themes. THEN hero goes to heaven, becomes a saint, and we enter pure unadulterated fantasy territory - and novel suddenly / immediately drops into a pointless non-narrative of heaven crap. After extensive pages of crap, we finally return to an actual novel with an actual narrative and start moving forward again (albeit while we are in Hell, then in company of Lucifer I found the earlier portion of the novel very good, and would give whole novel a much higher rating but for the heavenly gibberish section.
