This series is a great example why it is important to diversify one's reading with authors of colour and non-western heritage. There is a distinctly different flavour to this story and how the author examines humanity's faults and the concept of Alien contact. It also encouraged me to look up more information on China's history overall and more details about the Cultural Revolution. In some places, this book hurt my brain! Of particular impact, were the "Shooter" and "Farmer" analogies found early in the book. I could not stop thinking about them. I would have given this entry a higher rating, but I got lost in the physics at the end of the book, where I thought things got a bit off track. Seriously, if the Trisolaris could do that to a proton, you'd think they would be able to solve more of their own problems.
