St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves

A quirky conglomeration short story goodness. You start out with a story that you may recognize from Karen Russel's Swamplandia! novel and are introduced to some outrageous characters, some of which will make appearances in subsequent stories (though they're only very loosely related). And the hits just keep on coming. By the time I finished the last story, the title track if you will, and possibly my favorite, I had to applaud Russell for an amazingly consistent and high quality debut collection. One minor thing I will point out in case you're a reader that needs resolution at the closure of a story, this may not be for you, as there is often a lot of ambiguity. In my opinion this was done perfectly and the questions that ultimately aren't answered are left so for skillful tale telling reasons.
