A Wizard of Earthsea

The world-building was fantastic, and I loved the point of the plot (although I'm not sure I would have really understood what she was saying as a teenager). But I have realized that my favorite books make me feel like I've embodied the characters -- and the epic scope of this story, told within a very contained length, combined with the slightly distancing storytelling style meant that doesn't happen here. So I liked it, but I'm not going to continue with the series.

PS: This has nothing to do with my rating, but I'm so glad I read some of the negative reviews of Le Guin before I finally started reading her this year. Otherwise I would have been completely unprepared for how male-driven her stories are.
