Fifty-odd years or so before A Game of Thrones this was the original, quasi mediaeval, limited magic, political intrigue fantasy novel. Together with the other two volumes of the trilogy - A Fish Dinner in Memison and The Mezentian Gate, it's crying out for a TV adaptatation. Heck, given the two worlds setting of Zimiamvia and period England, there's even a ready-made tagline; Game of Thrones meets Downton Abbey. C'Mon HBO, why not stick The Three Kingdoms of Meszria, Fingiswold and Rerek on our screens for us - it's never been done before. There's loads of fabulous larger than life characters; Horius Parry, Vicar of Rerek is one of the greatest ever fantasy villains, there's nudity and violence galore and boy king Derxis of Akkama is even more loathsome than Joffrey Baratheon!
