This is the first book for the WoGF challenge, but to behonest I had bought it before I knew there was such a challenge. Also, beginning a yearly challenge in september might be a tad stupid, but it made me realize how few women author I had been willing to read. One of the reasons for this situation would be that my era of choice would be the extended 70's, but that makes it all the more baffling that I didn't read Le Guin before. Why? I really don't know.
Anyway, the book, itself : short and intense. Focused, imaginative, vibrant with character, wide with ideas and written in an inspired prose. I was hooked from the first sentence. It reads like a mix of the best of arguably my two favorite SF authors : Robert Silverberg & Phillip K. Dick, which I wouldn't have dared to dream. This book is definitely a to-re-read.
Since I'm mostly a depth-first reader, I know want to read tons of Le Guin, with huge expectations.
