Dreamsnake

I loved this story. I stayed up much too late last night finishing it because I literally could not stop reading.

It is the tale of a strong but flawed 'healer' who has been trained in the arts of treating affliction with chemically altered snake venom. As our protagonist 'Snake' makes her way across a realistically rendered post-apocalyptic landscape, McIntyre brings the characters and settings into sharp relief with her straightforward style.

Not sure what I was expecting going in but it was not this gift that I received... even after working a ways into it, the story kept heading places I did not foresee. Wish I had read this a long time ago so I could re-read it soon.
