This book may be less intense than Gateway, the first book of the Heechee, but it covers a lot of ground answering many questions about the elusive Heechee, from the use of the Heechee "fans" to where the Heechee disappeared to. The characters are exciting and likable. One of my favorites is the computer program Albert Einstein.
I actually liked this book better than Gateway because of the broad scope and cast of characters.
