I loved Kindred. It's a very accessible and interesting book about race, power, and the complicated relationships and feelings that result from extreme imbalances of those. With all of the unrest in the nation over police abuses of power over African Americans and other minority communities I wish there were more books that approach the subject like Kindred does--taking the trope of an outsider to a situation and allowing them to see it from the inside. We all need more reminders that situations are never as clear as they look from the outside, regardless of which side you see as in the right.
