Hollow City by Ransom Riggs, the second book in his series "Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children" left me with a rather mixed almost ambivalent feeling. This is the better of the two novels in my opinion. Mr. Riggs was able to fill out his characters in a most satisfactory way. My problem was, I listened to this as an audio book and I was not impressed with the reading done by Kirby Heyborne and Blackstone Audio. He did a lot of yelling in this novel, and when he did, all the characters voices sounded the same. That being said, I have listened to another audio book last year Breathers: A Zombie Lament by S.G. Browne that I quite enjoyed, so it could have just been this novel.
As far as the story goes, as I said I enjoyed it more. I found the story moved along at a brisk pace. It had just the right amount of excitement and mystery to make me want to know what was going to happen next, and the surprising and cliff hanger ending of the novel makes me anxious to know when I can read the next installment. Apparently latter this year according to "Goodreads."
Overall I am giving this novel a solid 3.33 out of 5. Although this is the same number of stars I gave the last book in the series, I feel this one is closer to a 3.5, where the first one was a solid 3
