Wells voice in The Invisible Man has a much more modern feel than in The Time Machine or The Island of Dr Moreau. This is a well crafted narrative but just did not grip me the way some of Wells other works did. Wells takes a very prosaic view at the limits of invisibility- which just brought to my mind repeated images of floating chewed up food. Overall, it was not suited to my tastes but I can see how others find it an enjoyable read.
