Transcendence

The third book in Charles Sheffield's Heritage Universe was a bit of a letdown, I have to say. I was very interested in how Louis Nenda and Atval H'sial would use the situation they were left in at the end of Divergence to their advantage but they end up back with the rest of the group at the very beginning of this book with very little explanation. The zardalu threat is still tangible but the secrets of the builders, which is what captured my interest in the series in the first place, are no closer to being revealed. I can only hope that the last two books are better than this one.
