A Nigerian take on Kafka's Metamorphosis (at least you have a job, white boy! it seems to say) that relies on the concept of the altered self but deters radically away from the original story to keep things original, fresh, and relevant, with even a few moments of authorial breaking of the 4th wall to keep things surprising. It could be perfect if not for the confusing moralized ending that seems to archaically equate racial transitioning with gender transitioning, suggesting it can never truly be attained, setting back all those previous pages of progress to old-fashioned mamby pamby. Too bad because it was so fun and sharp until then.
