This book begins with an action packed scene placing the reader in the middle of an assassination. Throughout the novel we follow Caim, an assassin, as he is pushed deeper into the twisted political structure of Othir. Caim is accompanied by a spirit named Kit, who helps Caim on his jobs... when she sees fit. Kit easily became my favorite character, her childish nature added a bit of humor that made the characters more relatable.
As the story progresses, the reader meets Josey, a wealthy socialite, when she finds herself partnered with Caim to bring down the corrupted city government. I grew to like Josey as she blossomed from a stuck up rich girl to a more well rounded character.
The story is full of plot twists and action scenes that keeps the reader coming back for more as the unlikely team struggle to stay alive.
