History
One of the most successful literary publisher of its time (1929 to 1946), Farrar & Rinehart won the first Carey-Thomas Award for Creative Publishing awarded by Publishers Weekly in 1943. in 1946, Farrar left to co-found a new publishing company--Farrar, Straus & Giraux--with Farrar & Rinehart renamed Rinehart & Company.
