History
J.B. Lippincott was one of the oldest publishers in America, founded in 1792. Through a series of buy outs and mergers, the Lippincott line eventually made its way into what is now HarperCollins. Lippincott is known for bringing us, initially, the seminal work, "A Canticle for Leibowitz."
