Ann Leckie does it again. Ancillary Sword is a worthy successor to Ancillary Justice. Breq is sent to Athoek Station, home of Lt. Awn's sister whom Breq has killed by a direct order from Anaander Mianaai, the dictator of the Radch. She is sent there to discover any meddling of the Presger, but wants to go to atone for Lt. Awn's death.

Ancillary Sword does not have as much action as Ancillary Justice. There is a lot more character development and social commentary in Ancillary Sword. More mysteries are brought up - who is lurking behind the unused gate? What will the Presger do when they find out that their emissary is dead? Which Aanander Mianaai faction will win the civil war? But, that is typical of volume two of a trilogy.
